Thank you to everyone that joined us for today's 'tasting on a train' sampling iconic wines of Europe. As promised, these are the wines we tasted on our journey.

Our Tour of Europe Wines

Incredible value from Aldi, it’s Brut, like most Champagnes so dry, its non-vintage so blend of years. Notes of citrus, apple, and a hint of toast. A simple and enjoyable Champagne produced by Grands Comptoirs Champenois, a negociant Champagne firm who buy grapes and wines from across the region blending them to make a consistent house style.

Winzer Krems - one of Austria's most renowned producers. Owned by 730 winegrowers, all sharing their knowledge and expertise. This is a classic example of Kremstal Grüner Veltliner. Crisp and fruity with a characteristic peppery finish.

The Alpine foothills tumble down into the Veneto in North-Eastern Italy. It’s here you’ll find the tiny Breganze DOC. It’s so small that the region’s 700 growers have formed a single cooperative: Beato Bartolomeo Breganze. They make so little of this delicious rosé that Majestic buy everything they make. It’s incredibly bright and fruity with really delicate flavours of peach, apricot and raspberry.

Pinot Noir is difficult to cultivate and that makes it expensive. Pinot Noir's heartlands are in Burgundy which is even more expensive, but this a steal at the price, as it's from the Loire Valley.

A little bit of oak aging to add structure.Cherries on the nose, raspberry, cranberry, smoke and spice. Not too much tannin.

The Recaș wine region is situated in the western part of Romania, near the city of Timișoara, part of the larger Banat region. The winery was founded in 1988 by three families, part British owned, taking over an old state run winery. Cabernet, Merlot and Feteasca Neagra create this Romanian 'Bordeaux' blend.

Despite powerful grapes, nice and smooth - Violet, Black Plum, Blackcurrant, Sweet Spice, Vanilla

Wiese & Krohn founded in 1865 by two Norwegians - Theodor Wiese and Dankert Krohn.

Tawny-red in colour with aromas of caramel, butterscotch, currants and spice. The palate is sweet and smooth with rich red fruits and a nutty character.
