Wine down Saturday: A look into the drinks of James Bond – Online Wine Tasting – 7th November

Welcome to a new series of Loki's Wine Down online tastings. During these series we will focus on topics around wine and alcohol in general and they are even more informal than our usual Cheese and Wine online tastings.

During our first tasting we will talk about legendary drinker, James Bond, who imbibed an enormous number of drinks, such as the famous Vodka Martini, as well as having an insatiable appetite for fine wines such as Chateau Mouton-Rothschild, amongst other things…

We will chat about the vast array of drinks that 007 consumed, get a feel of the luxurious life that he portrayed and enjoyed whilst enjoying a tipple ourselves.

We are going to be joined by Tony Elvin, a qualified Sommelier, ex Hotel du Vin General Manager and owner of the Wines Events Company, Tony has a passion for making wine accessible and fun (you’ll witness this first-hand!).

For the tasting you will get three options that Bond would have approved of:

1. A half bottle of Bollinger Classic Cuvee & a full bottle of Chianti Classico
2. A full bottle of Bollinger Classic Cuvee James Bond limited edition & a full bottle of Chianti Classico. This bottle was launched to celebrate Bollinger being the Official James Bond champagne for 40 years and the upcoming film No Time To Die. The limited edition gift box features the silhouette of James Bond alongside his Aston Martin DB5.Champagne Bollinger worked with celebrated photographer Greg Williams (who has worked on many Bond films and commercials), for the Special Cuvée 007 Limited Edition campaign, featuring his signature cinematic style that also appears in the No Time To Die campaign.
3. A full bottle of Mosel Riesling & a full bottle of Chianti Classico

We will talk you through all wines, so you can pick any option you fancy. No cheese pairings this time, but no one will stop you from adding truffle crisps and olives to your order.

Collect from either store You can collect the wine on the week of the tasting from either store from 2 pm on Wednesday – 4:30 pm on Saturday for free by selecting the free collection from store option at the checkout.

If you live within 5 miles of Loki you can select the option to get the wine delivered on the Wednesday-Friday before the tasting. Or we deliver on Wednesday’s to Solihull & surroundings, Thursday to Stourbridge & surroundings, and Friday to Sutton Coldfield.

If you live outside the 5 miles we can ship you the wine via UPS express delivery (usually 1-3 days), however as we cannot guarantee that the wines sent via UPS will be delivered in time for the live tasting, we will be providing everyone with the video of the tasting afterwards.

The format of the event

The live video will happen from 6pm on Saturday and will last for at least one hour. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions you have during the event, please use the live chat and talk to us and will relay the messages to the speakers.

If you cannot make the live video we will send everyone a recording of the event usually around 2 hours afterward the end of the tasting, so you can enjoy the tasting at a time convenient for you.

Latest order for delivery within 5 miles is Friday at 2pm, and for further afield is Thursday at 2pm.

Delivery will usually be fulfilled on the Wednesday, Thursday or Friday before the tasting.

We will send the link on the Saturday morning of the event.
